No 14 is sourced from the Sandow family vineyard, situated 4.5km East of the small township of Watervale in the Clare Valley. The Watervale subregion is defined by its very specific soil type; classic Terra Rossa topsoil over limestone, similar to that found in South Australia’s famed Coonawarra region. The Sandow family have worked these soils for decades and have a unique understanding of and relationship with the unique growing conditions of the Watervale subregion.
Watervale is renowned for producing Riesling of richness and elegance, and the 2026 No.14 is a perfect representation of this renown Riesling style. The bouquet is highly perfumed with aromas of green apple, fresh lemon, and peach blossom, while the palate is crisp and delicately structured, with a chalky minerality running throughout. The driving core of electric acidity carries crisp flavours of freshly picked grapefruit, white nectarine and Granny Smith apples along the palate, driving exceptional length and a clean, crisp finish. A Riesling that may be enjoyed well in its youth, but will also reward long-term cellaring.
