2014 Vintage

2014 was a very warm vintage. We had average winter rains, then a very dry spring and summer. Irrigation was the key, as we needed to keep the water upto the vines, to ensure the canopy’s and berries were kept healthy. Late January mother nature gave us 10 days of 40C weather. Mid February we had a heavy rainstorm. The Clare vineyards receiving upto 80mm of rain, whilst Eden Valley had 100mm of rain. 2014 Rieslingfreak No.2 Polish Hill River Riesling

This wine was harvested on the 6th March. The vineyard allowing us to produce a very refined and delicate wine, typical of the Polish Hill River region. The wine is very refined, showing some mineral and slate characteristics. Delicate floral and almond blossom aromas. Lingering flavours of apple, green lemon and limes. Good fruit and acid balance. Drinks well now, and will reward with long term cellaring.

2014 Rieslingfreak No.3 Clare Valley Riesling

Harvested on the 28th February, which was about a week latter than the previous year. With the dry summer, there is a further depth of concentrated flavours. The 2014 No.3, providing up front fruit, passionfruit, ripe lemons and limes, pear and even a hint of mint. The wine drinks exceptionally well now, but will reward with long term cellaring.

Harvested on the 8th March, which was similar to last year’s pick. The Riesling is a delicate style, with sweet spice, green lemons and limes, lychee and tropical fruit notes. The wine drinks well now, but will reward with long term cellaring.

2014 Rieslingfreak No.5 Clare Valley ‘Off Dry’ Riesling

Harvested on the 1st March, only a few days latter compared to the previous year. With the dry summer, there is a further depth of concentrated flavours, providing up front fruit, lemon pith, zesty notes, and a generous palate of sweet grapefruit, lemon and limes. The wine contains 11g/l sugar, which is balanced nicely by the acid. The wine drinks exceptionally well now, but will reward with long term cellaring
