The 2016 vintage was a dry, similar to the 2015, with a very dry autumn and spring. Mother nature gave us some rain late January, but other than that, we were dependant on irrigation to water the vines and protect the grapes. Vintage happened early mid February which was about 10 days earlier than ‘normal’. The dry conditions providing wines with concentrated flavours.

It is wild ferment, lees contact and lees stirring. The colour is deep straw, the nose shows great complexity form the lees stirring, candy notes and orange peel. 2014 was a very warm vintage. We had average winter rains, then a very dry spring and summer. Irrigation was the key, as we needed to keep the water upto the vines, to ensure the canopy’s and berries were kept healthy. Late January mother nature gave us 10 days of 40C weather. 2013 Vintage

2013 was a great vintage for both the Clare and Eden Valley’s. The temperature was perfect for ripening, with nice warm days, and not many days above 35oC. It was a particularly dry vintage, with few rain showers in December, and late January. This is where access to water was very valuable, and especially with Riesling. Water was applied to the vineyards early November through early March, with the importance of maintaining the Riesling vine canopy.
